The 25th Festival of Trees will be Nov. 21-23 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center in Columbia, SC. Festival of Trees features decorated trees, wreaths, stockings and other holiday items that will be up for bid during a weekend-long silent auction. Thousands of people will attend from across the Midlands to enjoy the holiday cheer as well as wonderful activities and entertainment — local choirs, dance groups, visits with Santa, area mascots as well as educational sessions from Safe Kids Midlands. Proceeds will benefit Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital.

Healing WatersPalmetto Health Healing Waters is scheduled to bring a new spa to Midlands’ residents on Thursday, Jan. 15. Palmetto Health Healing Waters, the 6,931 square-foot spa located on the Palmetto Health Baptist Parkridge campus in Northwest Columbia will be open to everyone in the community. The spa will offer traditional services and treatments, including anti-aging Pure MD® facials, massage therapy and Healing Waters’ body rituals. Other services include medical aesthetic procedures, such as Botox and dermal fillers; plastic surgery procedures including both reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery; and wellness activities.

Local plastic surgeon Peter Haines, M.D. has been named Medical Director. In addition to Haines, the spa will employ more than 25 team members, including registered nurses, aestheticians, estheticians, massage therapists, etc.

Haines is a board certified plastic surgeon who has been caring for patients in the Columbia community for 28 years. He is relocating his practice to join Palmetto Health Healing Waters, where he will lead plastic surgery services. Haines is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the American Cleft Palate Association, the Columbia Medical Society, and several other professional organizations. His expertise encompasses a wide range of cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries including pediatric and congenital deformities.
