The Palmetto Health Administrative Fellowship program admitted its first Fellow in Summer 2010. The Fellowship program is designed for individuals who demonstrate the potential to make significant contributions to the field of health services administration. By participating in Palmetto Health's program, the Fellow learns firsthand about the operations, finance, and other significant areas of the healthcare delivery system.
Q: What does a Palmetto Health Administrative Fellow do?
The intention of the program is to provide a flexible environment that attempts to match the interests of the Fellow to those areas that align with Palmetto Health's Mission, Vision, Values and organizational objectives. The Fellow gains in-depth exposure to Palmetto Health through an immersion into the system for the first two and one-half months followed by meaningful project work. These projects are developed/identified based on the interests of the Fellow, the needs of the organization and the leadership competencies critical to the success of healthcare administrators.

Q: Who is eligible to be a Palmetto Health Fellow?
An individual with an advanced degree in healthcare management (Master in Health Services Administration, Master in Public Health, Master in Healthcare Administration, Master in Business Administration from a CAHME accredited school, a potential graduate from a school requiring a Fellowship as a condition for graduation or any other comparable degree with some professional experience in health care. This person will possess superior communication skills along with the potential to make significant contributions to the Palmetto Health management team.
Q: How long is the Fellowship appointment?
The fellowship term of the appointment begins in the Summer of each year and continues for twelve months, depending on individual circumstance. The Fellowship begins with an orientation and training program scheduled as soon as practical following Fellowship appointment.
Q: Do I get paid?
The Palmetto Health Administrative Fellow will be paid an annual stipend that is competitive with other administrative fellowships at various institutions around the country. In addition, the fellow receives a benefit package that is comparable to Palmetto Health employees.
