The mission of the Research Division is to improve the health and quality of life for all of the individuals we serve by providing:

  • Patients a supportive and safe environment to participate in cutting edge research.
  • Researchers with a framework of quality, compliant, and ethical services for the development, coordination and oversight of their research.
  • Sponsors the assurance that we’re a preferred partner in research.

The Research Division is composed of:

  • Clinical Trials – provides clinical trial implementation at our facility and provides dedicated, professional study coordination and regulatory staff for physicians/investigators interested in conducting clinical trials.
  • Institutional Review Board (IRB) Administration – houses staff that coordinate Palmetto Health’s two IRBs, which are responsible for the oversight of research conducted on patients.
  • Research Compliance – ensures compliance of Palmetto Health to applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to research.
  • Resident Research – provides mentoring to young investigators, assisting with literature review, proposal development, data analysis and manuscript preparation.

Clinical Research Forum (CRF) Meetings

The Palmetto Health Research Division hosts bi-monthly meetings for those interested in clinical research, including investigators, research staff professionals and IRB members.

These meetings are designed to provide pertinent continuing education programs and networking opportunities for the attendees. For more information, call 803-434-2884.

All meetings are held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at 9 Richland Medical Park Dr., in classroom 130. Coffee and water are provided for all meetings. Please feel free to bring your own lunch as tables are provided in the classroom.

For those not familiar with the Palmetto Health Richland campus, 9 Medical Park is located to the right of Children’s Hospital. You can park in the main parking lot in front of Children’s Hospital, or in the parking garage behind 9 Medical Park.
