At Prisma Health, our Research Division enables our caregivers to provide more treatment options for our patients and to stay at the forefront of pharmaceutical and medical device development. We collaborate with a number of state and national research institutions while maintaining a close affiliation with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.

  • Patients a supportive and safe environment to participate in cutting edge research.
  • Researchers with a framework of quality, compliant, and ethical services for the development, coordination and oversight of their research.
  • Sponsors the assurance that we’re a preferred partner in research.

Our Research Division is composed of:

  • Clinical Trials – provides clinical trial implementation at our facility and provides dedicated, professional study coordination and regulatory staff for physicians/investigators interested in conducting clinical trials.
  • Institutional Review Board (IRB) Administration – houses staff that coordinate Prisma Health’s two IRBs, which are responsible for the oversight of research conducted on patients.
  • Research Compliance – ensures compliance of Prisma Health to applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to research.
  • Resident Research – provides mentoring to young investigators, assisting with literature review, proposal development, data analysis and manuscript preparation.

Research Forums

The Prisma Health Research Division hosts bi-monthly meetings for those interested in clinical research, including investigators, research staff professionals and IRB members. These meetings are designed to provide pertinent continuing education programs and networking opportunities for the attendees.
