Upcoming events at Palmetto Health for January 2017.
Jan. 7: Project Ready
Palmetto Health believes that since risk-taking is a natural part of adolescence, youth need the opportunity to see the consequences of their choices. This is accomplished through Palmetto Health’s reality-based education program called Project READY (Realistic Education about Dying Young), which exposes adolescents from Richland, Lexington and Fairfield counties to the Palmetto Health Richland Level I Trauma Center. During a Project READY (5hr) session, participants will talk with trauma surgeons and Emergency Room (ER) doctors; touch and feel the real equipment used to treat injuries in the operating room; see inside a real ER, trauma bay and morgue; witness a pretend trauma patient scene in the ER; and interact with physical, occupational, and speech therapists and experience firsthand the daily challenges experienced by injured trauma patients. For more information or to register, call 803-296-CARE (2273).
Jan. 10: Weight Loss Surgery Seminar
The Palmetto Health-USC Weight Management Center will offer a free weight loss surgery seminar for individuals interested in bariatric surgery Tuesday, Jan. 10, 6-7 p.m., at 9 Richland Medical Park Dr. The seminar will review the various types of weight loss surgery options and what to expect during and after surgery.
