Financial Assistance

Providing assistance to those in need

At Prisma Health, we provide financial assistance primarily to uninsured individuals who have annual incomes that are less than 100% of Federal Poverty Guidelines (FPG), who meet certain asset limits, and who are U.S. citizens residing in Richland, Lexington, Fairfield and Sumter counties.

Individuals who need assistance should complete an application and work with Prisma Health financial counselors to understand their coverage or financial assistance options. Patients approved for financial assistance will be charged nominal (or small) co-payments for their care.

How to apply

Financial assistance applications can be requested by contacting our Columbia-based financial counselors at 803-296-CARE (2273) or Sumter-based financial counselors at 803-774-8838, by downloading an application online or by requesting an application at any access point.

For assistance with the application process, our financial counselors may be reached by phone or at the main admissions desks of the Prisma Health Baptist Hospital, Prisma Health Richland Hospital and Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital campuses.
